The Pink Perspective | September 2026

Director's Corner - What's New at Going Beyond the Pink

If it feels like things are moving fast around here, that's because they are - and we wouldn't have it any other way. October is just around the corner, and with it comes Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our busiest and most meaningful season of the year. The next several weeks are packed with events, partnerships, and milestones that remind us exactly why we do this work every day.

We are so grateful for the incredible community that rallies around Going Beyond the Pink. Our friends at Sandpiper Bay Golf & Country Club in Sunset Beach, NC are once again hosting both a pickleball tournament and a golf tournament to raise funds in support of everything we do. That kind of generosity means the world to us. We also have exciting fundraising events in the works again with Hotworx, the Lindsey Benton Memorial Foundation, Wild Tide Lacrosse Pink Out, Wilmington Surgical Associates Run for the Ta Tas, and more. Stay tuned for details on each of these as they unfold.

Finally, I want to share an update with you. As our team continues to grow and our programs expand, we sat down with our board and made the difficult decision to postpone this year's Pose-for-Pink Fashion Show. This was not an easy call, and we know many of you look forward to it each year. But please know - something new is in the works, and we think you are going to love it. We will share more details just as soon as we can.

As always, none of this happens without you. Your support, your presence, and your belief in our mission make everything possible. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with us.

And before I let you go: don't forget to register for next week's Monthly Workshop on Lymphedema Management and Movement. It is a topic that touches so many in our community, and we would love to see you there.

With Gratitude,

Maggie

  • Diagnostic Mammograms
  • Additional imaging when symptoms or abnormalities are present.

Meet Our New Intern - Lucille Berberian

Lucille Berberian is a student at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, pursuing a Master's of Social Work degree. She is very excited to be completing her internship with Going Beyond the Pink!

Lucille says, "I love social work because there are so many things someone can do with this degree. For me, I enjoy connecting with people, helping them find their voice and recognize their own strengths, and supporting them through difficult seasons in their life." Lucille is also especially interested in helping people get connected to resources, program development, and social policy.

When she is not in class or working Lucille loves to write poetry, cook, and spend time in nature. She is looking forward to learning, growing, and contributing my social work perspective at Going Beyond the Pink and hopefully meet you all soon!

Lucille will be with us until the Spring of 2028. She is so grateful to be a part of this team and excited to see what this experience brings. We're just as excited to have her join us and support her as she builds our new series of in-person support groups (coming later this Fall)! Welcome, Lucille!
